I have led large and small teams launching new products and services in industries ranging from PC software to financial services, health care, and K-12 education. I led product management and development teams in the Windows and Consumer Products Divisions at Microsoft for 10 years before catching the startup bug. I worked as a consultant with global business strategy firm Bain & Co. I have degrees in Economics and History from the University of Washington (where I received the Dean’s Medal) and an MBA with honors from the Wharton School.
I was founding editor of MacTech, the leading Apple technology journal, then co-founded the Microsoft Developer Network. I led the first web development project at Microsoft, and then led Microsoft's Platform Web Team. After leaving Microsoft, I founded Project Alchemy, an NGO focused on elevating the technology expertise and effectiveness of grassroots social justice advocates. I'm convinced that climate change is the signal challenge of our time, I've founded or partnered in a series of startups, and am inspired by a conviction that business and business leaders can be a force for positive change.
